Ogilvy Distillery Tour - Terms & Conditions

Tours of the Ogilvy Distillery take place at Hatton of Ogilvy Farm, Glamis, Forfar, DD8 1UH (the “distillery”), and are provided by Ogilvy Spirits Ltd (now referred to as “we” or “Ogilvy Spirits”).  The following Terms & Conditions, as well as any information contained in the booking confirmation, or tickets provided to you, apply to all bookings.  By booking or purchasing tickets for any of our tours, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions.

Pricing and admission policy

All visitors 18 years old or over will be charged as an Adult ticket.  This includes an alcoholic sample.  For visitors aged 16 or 17, a concession ticket price will be charged (no alcohol is included).  Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (aged 18 or over).  Persons under the age of 16 are not permitted access to the distillery for licensing and health and safety reasons.  All prices shown on the website are inclusive of VAT.

We operate a Challenge 25 policy.  You may be asked to provide proof of age.  Please bring ID with you - valid passport, driving licence or EU ID card are accepted.  We cannot accept photos or copies of ID, it must be the original version of the document.  Anyone unable to provide proof of age on request will be unable to consume alcohol on the premises and will not be able to purchase alcohol for consumption off site.

Online bookings

We endeavour to ensure that the tour information displayed on the Ogilvy Spirits website is current and accurate.  Except for your statutory rights, we cannot be held liable for any errors or omission on the website.  Use of the website is subject to our General Terms & Conditions, however, in the case of conflict, these Tour terms and conditions shall apply to online and phone bookings.

Walk-in bookings

Tours do not need to be pre-booked, but we strongly recommend that reservations are booked online to avoid disappointment at busy times.  Walk-in visitor spaces on our Tours operate on a first come first served basis.  We cannot guarantee the availability of these spaces.

Group bookings

Tours are strictly limited in size.  Available spaces per tour are visible in real time on our website.

Group numbers exceeding our maximum tour size will need to be split across a number of tour times.  We recommend contacting us be phone or email to arrange large group bookings.  We will endeavour to do our best to accommodate your group but cannot guarantee availability of spaces.  Booking well in advance for groups is strongly recommended.

All bookings require to be paid in full at the time of booking to secure your required date and time.  Cancellation or non-show for a scheduled group tour booking without prior notice is subject to the following conditions:

Cancellation more than 14 days in advance – full refund of ticket price paid.

Cancellation of 7 -13 days in advance – 50% refund will be offered.

Cancellation less than 7 days in advance – no refund will be given.

Changes requested more than 14 days prior to the original booking are not subject to any charge.  The rescheduled date must be within 2 months of the original booking date.

*Covid 19 Policy*

If you feel unwell or are displaying any symptoms prior to visiting us we ask that you do not visit and we will arrange an alternative date for your tour or refund.  All postponed tours from 2020 have been extended until 19 December 2021.

Conditions of entry

On arrival, you will be asked to present your ticket(s) or booking confirmation as proof of payment.  We operate a Challenge 25 policy.  Visitors may be subject to an age check on arrival to the distillery/ visitor centre.  Young visitors should bring photo identification (“ID”) with them.

If we believe a visitor who wishes to consume alcohol is under 25, that visitor will be asked to produce photo ID.  In the event that you are unable to produce a valid photo ID, you will be refused any alcohol samples or the sale of any bottles/ products containing alcohol.  If you have paid in full for a ticket but cannot provide proof of age when requested, we regret that no refunds can be given.

The date and time of your tour will be clearly shown on your booking confirmation/ ticket.  We request that you arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time of tour to allow the tour to commence on time.  As our tour is in part held on a trailer, if you arrive after the tour has commenced, you may not be able to take part.  We will do our best to accommodate you on another tour that day (if space is available), however, we cannot guarantee spaces will be available or that another tour will be operating that day.  Unfortunately, we are unable to refund tickets where no suitable alternative can be found.  We always reserve the right to refuse admission to the distillery.

Cancellations and amendments

If you cancel an online or phone booking or do not arrive for a scheduled tour you have booked and paid for, tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded unless such cancellations or changes are made more than 7 days prior to the originally scheduled tour date. There is no charge made for rescheduling in these circumstances. The rescheduled date however must be within 2 months of the original tour booking date. If you cancel your tour booking less than 7 days in advance, refunds will not be available, and any deposit paid will be retained.

If you wish to amend the date or time of any booking following the purchase of ticket(s), you should immediately contact us by phone on +44 (0) 1307 840 444 or by email (tours@ogilvyspirits.com). We will endeavour (but will not be obliged) to accommodate the alternative date or time requested by you. Available dates and time slots are governed by pre-confirmed bookings.

In the event that we need to cancel your tour, a full refund will be offered for the purchase price of the ticket subject to the following conditions.

We will endeavour to open the distillery during our standard operational hours published on our website, however, we reserve the right to close the distillery on any given day or part thereof (due to adverse weather conditions or other special circumstances) without notice.

In the event of total closure of the distillery, any tickets issued for tours on the day of closure will be exchanged or refunded at the price paid.  No further compensation will be offered.

In the event that we do have to cancel, we will attempt to contact you as soon as this is practical using the contact information that you have provided.  Using the information that you provided us with during the booking process, contact may be made by email or by phone.  We cannot accept any responsibility for incorrect contact details that you provided at the time of booking.

At certain times of the year, or on certain days some parts of the farm or distillery may be closed for cleaning, essential maintenance or other technical reasons.  This may result in the distillery not being fully operational.  Tours may still proceed but will be subject to an amended route.  Due to the seasonal nature of our business, areas of the farm and tour may change depending on time of year.  We reserve the right to make amendments to the tour route without notice.  Tickets will not be refunded, and no compensation will be paid in such event.

Sampling policy

In accordance with our license, Ogilvy Spirits promote responsible drinking.  As such, we limit guest sampling to discourage excessive consumption.  Sampling is controlled by our staff.  Refusal of service is at their discretion.

Drivers

In Scotland, there are strict alcohol limits for drivers, but it's impossible to say exactly how many drinks this equals – it's different for each person. Any alcohol in your body can adversely affect how you drive.

The current limits are:

  • 22 mcg of alcohol in 100 ml of breath (the 'breath limit')
  • 50 mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood (the 'blood limit')
  • 67 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of urine (the 'urine limit')

This means that just one drink could put you over the legal limit for driving.  Government advice is to avoid consumption of alcohol entirely if you are driving.  There is no “permissible” amount that you can safely consume.

When visiting the Ogilvy Distillery, we will ask if there are any drivers in your group.  These people will not be served alcohol on the premises and will be provided with a ‘take home’ sample instead for consumption at home.

If visiting Ogilvy Spirits purely to purchase, you will be advised on the legal limit and government zero tolerance policy if you request a sample and make it known to staff that you will be driving away from the premises. The decision is then yours as to whether you would like to sample a small amount of any of the products, however, Ogilvy Spirits does advise against this.

Health & Safety

We are a working farm and distillery.  This is a controlled working and manufacturing environment, and you should excise due care and attention on the tour.  Distillery staff may draw your attention to specific health & safety procedures, and you must adhere to these.

Suitable footwear and clothing should be worn on the tour.  No open-toed shoes or heels are permitted.

No animals other than guide dogs are permitted in the Visitor Centre or Distillery.

If the fire alarm sounds, please follow the instructions of your tour guide.

For safety reasons, photography is not permitted within the distillery and production areas.

In accordance with Scottish law, smoking is strictly prohibited.

Accessibility

Our tour is fully accessible including our tractor & trailer.  Please advise us at the time of booking if you require assistance, as there are limited accessible spaces on the trailer.  If you have any requirements for special assistance, please contact us in advance of your tour so we can ensure you receive the best possible experience.

Registered carers are entitled to one free ticket for any customer requiring essential assistance to visit our distillery ie wheelchair assistance.  This place can be reserved when booking online.
